The project addresses the theme of the food system in the context of sustainable development. The study proposes to explore the potential of the trend towards recycling products and the conscious use of all parts of plants to restore forgotten tastes and maintain the biodiversity of ecosystems using the example of a horticultural crop such as cherry.
The art object in the Metaverse figuratively plays with an automated system in which the natural environment is connected to production technologies. The top spiral is a conceptualization of the appearance of a cherry tree for digital space. Its composition is assembled from 6 elements symbolizing different parts of this plant culture (fruit, pit, root, bark, flower and leaf). The middle part of the art object is a labyrinth table, on which the above 6 elements are distributed into the special holes and fall into the pipes at the bottom.
The distribution of cherry elements symbolizes the search for the potential of using all parts of the plant, both to discover and revive gastronomic tastes, and to find balance and self-regulation of the ecosystem - despite the fact that the cherry is not fully integrated into natural ecosystems, tree planting contributes to the support of local biodiversity of invertebrates and mushrooms. Thus, a part of the distributed elements (bark, root) from the labyrinth table is sent not for human use, but for the benefit of other representatives of the ecosystem.
