CONCEPT & THEORY
Wingspan investigates the emergence of hybrid, synthetic ecologies where botanical life, algorithmic systems, and acoustic landscapes are deeply intertwined. Drawing on the adaptive strategies of flora under the pressures of the Anthropocene, the project focuses on carnivorous plant species—specifically the Sundew (Drosera)—which evolved highly sensitive, tactile mechanisms to capture prey in nutrient-poor environments. The project uses these biological defense mechanisms as a speculative framework to explore how "nature" might redesign its behavioral logic to survive and defend itself within digital vacuums.

METHODOLOGY & INTERACTION
The project was deployed as a live multimedia performance and spatial installation. The conceptual architecture relies on a structured synthesis of live acoustic sound and generative imagery. During the performance, a live flutist executes a composed acoustic score, physically surrounded by a spatial array of holographic LED fans and a large-scale background projection.

The 3D botanical assets displayed on the holographic interfaces were pre-generated using a hybrid workflow, where neural network algorithms reinterpreted botanical datasets of carnivorous flora.
